FIND US AT OCTOBER 9TH - 11TH 2020 BOOTH H09 GENERAL ADMISSION ROCHEXPO - HALL A PRESENTING WORKS BY PATRICK HUGHES English artist born in 1939, Patrick Hughes made his first three-dimensional relief painting in 1964. His intention was to create works of art that were different from the traditional. This lead to his invention of reverse perspective or ‘reverspective’. Fifty-five years on, he is still making optically deceiving works of art that captivate the viewer and install a sense of disbelief. JOSEPH The work of conceptual artist Joseph gives a place, a function and a power to the viewer, acting as an abyss as he sees through it. The use of texts rather than images contributes to exacerbate the reflection of the viewer. JEFF KOONS American Artist Jeff Koons (York, Pennsylvania 1955 - ) is internationally acclaimed for his ‘pop’ sculptures that elevate ordinary objects to artistic pieces designed to engage a broad range of viewers and, often, comment on American culture. ZHUANG HONG YI Born in 1962 in Sichuan Province, China, Zhuang Hong Yi lives and works between The Netherlands & Beijing. The flower motif dominates Zhuang Hong Yi's work - a significant image in Chinese culture which carries countless meanings and emotions yet with equally strong associations with the Netherlands, world famous for its flowers - and he works patiently and religiously on this subject year after year, intricately crafting his works with care and forethought. Zhuang's well known and highly collected 'flower bed' works are crafted from delicate pieces of painted rice paper, which he has bent and folded into hundreds of tiny buds. PEPPONE Peppone is a 45 years old artist living near Aix-en-Provence. Bulimic collector, he counts among his treasures about 500 albums of Tintin's adventures, of which some have only few dusty pages left. He feeds his collection with what he finds in car boot sales, municipal libraries sales or even with what friends and strangers bring him. Thus from a place of dreams and travels, the adventures of Tintin are also a place of encounter for Peppone. But this treasure is mostly his Proust's Madeleine since his first copies of Tintin came from his father when he died. The character of Tintin became a cornerstone in his balance that allowed him to cultivate his relation with his father and protect himself against a form of "artistic situation". CÉCILE PLAISANCE Cécile Plaisance is a French photographer. In this series, women, their mouths, their hair, their bodies, and their curves, disappear under a cape, over which reigns, often, a man. The desires of this man are laws. Therefore, orders. Before the lens of Cécile Plaisance, those orders become “ disorders ”. Feminine expression is liberated. These phantom women deploy their zeal. Their tongues are loosed. They are exultant with joy, with pleasure. They dance, they enjoy themselves. They display their chic lingerie ; eroticism invites itself to a place beneath the sheets. PATRICK RUBINSTEIN Patrick Rubinstein has been passionate about kinetic art since adolescence. His love of art, film photography and kinetics have all been combined to create a unique form of art specific to him. With time, he moved from a rather traditional technique to more sophisticated creations, which were made possible by new technologies. Today, he has become a listed signature of contemporary figurative optical art and is a part of many famous private collections worldwide. RICHARD ORLINSKI It was in 2004 that Richard Orlinski decided to devote himself fully to art . Impregnated with pop-culture, the artist creates a colorful universe inspired by the wildest animals and iconic objects that have marked their generation. Animated by the desire to democratize art by making it accessible to the greatest number, Richard Orlinski is an enthusiast who has overcome many obstacles, surpassing himself to constantly reinvent himself. His desire to popularize art is also reflected in the desire to arouse an immediate emotion, in young and old alike. Far from the diktats of the contemporary art world, the works of the artist shout for him!
THIRSTY BSTRD THIRSTY BSTRD (aka Julien Surdeau) is a French visual artist from Paris. Using spray paint, stencils, stickers and videos, his work is a satirical commentary about society, politics and consumerism. By giving powerful symbols and popular images a humorous twist, Thirsty BSTRD’s work is emotive and thought provoking. JOËL MOENS The background is made up of thousands of photographic fragments of feminine curves. In the foreground stands an image that radiates intensity, a symbol of intimacy, a face. The photo mosaics of Joël Moens de Hase first began to emerge in 2011. They rapidly caught the interest of a national and international viewership, and both were highly receptive. This digital art form, a contemporary alternative of pixel art and pointillism, has the ability to surprise and seduce through the originality and aesthetics of the concept. MARCO GRASSI Marco Grassi (Grama) is a painter of Italian origin, born in 1966 and now living & working in Lugano, Switzerland. Marco creates remarkable portraits thanks to their realism, always accompanied by a special touch and a pinch of surrealism. The artist gives special importance to the thoroughness with which he handles the details of his not-very-traditional subjects. ONEMIZER Onemizer was born in 1987 in the South of France. He spent part of his childhood in Africa where he discovered art for the first time and watercolors. He moved back to France when he was a teenager, and discovered graffiti in the streets of Paris. The Paris metro and the highways and graffiti along the Parisian freeways were his museums. Later he started to paint in wastelands and in abandoned warehouses and little by little he perfected his technique. NOVARINO From personal or professional clichés acquired in offices, Fabien Novarino designs original graphic works that come from the Neo Pop style – a worthy successor to the Pop Art movement born in the 1950s. Produced from a subtle mixture of collages, drawings and stencils, his canvases are inspired by icons of American and French cinema, modern urbanism and the world of comics. Firmly contemporary, his art is a true homage to the society of entertainment. DGANIT BLECHNER Dganit Blechner is a highly appreciated world-known Pop Art artist from Tel Aviv Israel. Her vivid, bright and cheerful pallet of colors, used in her works, together with extraordinary compositions gained her world-wide reputation. A variety of techniques are used in her works, combining different kinds of media, see-through thin fabric, complex laser-cuts on wood and fabric all with her personal touch and hand work, using acrylic, oil and car paints. |
