Romain TIERCIN

Biography

Romain was born an artist, yet destiny long kept silent about his path, forcing him to move forward by feel.
From an early age, his hands discovered the joy of creating through matter and sound. Drawing, clay, music—beauty naturally entered his world. His father introduced him to painting, while his mother passionately supported his musical studies. With a perseverance rare for his age, he devoted himself fully to learning the cello.
Wood was already present all around him, though its significance remained unseen. A grandfather who was a master carpenter and compagnon du devoir passed on a rigorous craft, intertwined with the carefree spirit of family holidays. The precious hours spent in his grandfather’s workshop marked him deeply, just as the cello held close to his body left an indelible presence in the cradle of his arms.
Years of study followed, and the desire to explore new horizons grew stronger. He traveled to Uruguay through a university exchange program, then crossed Latin America by bicycle, another of his passions, driven by a thirst for freedom and discovery.
Back in France, with an engineering degree in hand, he began a professional career. Life, however, intervened and compelled him to question his choices. Becoming a father acted as a revelation: what truly matters to pass on?
A series of trials and upheavals led to a profound turning point. The time for change had come. Romain stepped away from a predetermined path and plunged into the heart of the forest, where everything begins and transforms. He emerged transformed, carrying chestnut branches with strangely human forms.
Thus began a long journey of learning, stripping away, and elevation. His art rises from the vegetal world; his hands become architects of balance. Artist and wood merge their breaths of life and disappearance, while bronze stands as the timeless messenger of this human paradox.
