THE ARTISTS

PEPPONE

Located in Provence’s Luberon region, Peppone (Christophe Tixier) runs a workshop filled with reclaimed objects, including nearly 500 comic books that inspire his work. Raised by teacher parents who valued sharing, Peppone built his collection through flea markets, auctions, and gifts from friends and strangers. He transforms this abundance of paper into colorful resin sculptures rich in popular symbolism, evoking childhood, his native region, and inspirations from Star Wars, Marvel, and Disney. For Peppone, humans escape mortality by creating, communicating, and dreaming—a cycle his art embodies, connecting him emotionally to his father and preserving his legacy.

MIHOUB

Born in 1976 in Oran, Mihoub is a French artist of Algerian origin. In 2001, he left for San Francisco in search of new adventures, inspired by Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist. While exploring the streets of downtown, he discovered the vibrant world of art galleries, the Surrealist movement, and post-war Abstract Expressionism.Like André Breton, writer and founder of Surrealism, Mihoub lets instinct guide his creative process:“When I create, I let myself be carried by the energy that emerges, and as I go, I start to see shapes appear. A composition, for me, is like a dance, a ballet…”His work draws inspiration from artists such as Jackson Pollock and Jean Dubuffet, advocates of raw and spontaneous creation, as well as from the 1980s New York street art scene—Rammellzee for his mystical and spiritual side, A-Onefor his urban expressionism, and Basquiat for his rage to paint.Since 2014, Mihoub has been based in Marseille, where he became a brand ambassador for the color manufacturer Pébéo. His reputation has grown internationally, with more than fifty live paintings performed around the world. His artistic philosophy can be summed up in one sentence:

“Our mind is the last space of freedom we can choose to ignore or to explore.”
