Born in Ontario, Canada, in 1959, Jane Waterous studied art and film at Queen's University, OCAD University, Sheridan College and New York University. After an early career in multimedia and award-winning filmmaking for Channel 4 UK, she moved to the Bahamas in 1998, where her surroundings inspired her artistic journey. An internationally renowned artist and icon of sculptural pointillism, Jane creates vibrant, three-dimensional works combining acrylic, resin, texture and colour. Best known for her Gatherings series, she explores human connection, collective joy and togetherness through sculptural figures that seem to leap from the canvas. Inspired by life, travel and human encounters, her work is exhibited and collected internationally, appearing in prestigious art exhibitions, luxury hotels and private collections around the world.
