Biography
Biography of Nicolas Herbé
Born in 1989 in the south of France, Nicolas Herbé is a contemporary artist based between Aix-en-Provence and Marseille. Influenced from an early age by urban culture, graffiti, rap, and New York hip-hop, he has developed an instinctive artistic universe where gesture and emotion play a central role.
Through expressive paintings created with both brushes and spray paint, he builds a personal visual language blending abstraction, movement, and street-art energy. His work is characterized by an abstract calligraphy he describes as an “illiterate message” — a spontaneous and emotional form of writing intended to create a universal connection between people and emotions.
Before fully dedicating himself to art, Nicolas Herbé worked for several years as a chef. A decisive encounter with a collector, deeply moved by his paintings, encouraged him to leave the culinary world and devote himself entirely to his artistic practice.
His recurring symbol, the bee, represents collective energy, sharing, and human connection — values that are deeply rooted in his work. Today, Nicolas Herbé continues to explore movement, instinct, and emotional balance through immersive and sensitive contemporary artworks.
